Description

Valley Green is a synthetic pigment in powdered form. It is selected for its resistance to UV rays and lime, providing a vibrant medium green shade when combined with limewash.

Please note that due to the characteristics of limewash, pigmented coatings tend to dry slightly lighter than the initial mixture. It is advisable to conduct tests prior to the final application to ensure the desired colour.

Product Details

  • Synthetic pigment based on natural ingredients
  • Highly resistant to UV exposure
  • Stable colour in lime and cement environments
  • Non-toxic formulation

The listed volume is an approximation; for accuracy, our pigments are measured by weight. The weights corresponding to different volumes of Valley Green (290) are:

  • 250ml – 200g
  • 1 litre – 800g
  • 10 litres – 8kg

Preparation

Blending the dry pigment powder with warm water to form a slurry ensures the pigment is thoroughly saturated before mixing into limewash. This prevents dry pockets that can cause uneven colouration. Add the slurry to the limewash and stir thoroughly.

Mixing Guidance

Mixing approximately 25 litres of water with one 25kg container of mature lime putty creates around 45 litres of limewash. To preserve the integrity of the limewash, no more than 2 litres (about 5% by volume) of dry pigment should be added to this mixture.

The rich hue seen in the photograph was achieved by incorporating the maximum pigment load (5% by volume) into a limewash with a consistency similar to single cream. Using lesser pigment quantities will produce lighter shades.

You can combine different dry pigments within our limewash range to craft a variety of custom colours.

Lime putty’s density can vary; adjust the water volume accordingly. Aim for a limewash with a fluidity between milk and single cream. Thicker mixes are more prone to cracking.

Coverage

A 10-litre batch of limewash typically covers 30-40 square meters per coat. For optimal results, it is recommended to apply 3 to 5 coats.

Coverage depends on the mixture's consistency and the substrate's nature.
